Ostomy surgery saves lives today;
it will save lives for generations to come.
Your generous legacy gift will ensure United Ostomy Associations of America (UOAA) continues to support, educate, and advocate for future generations of people living with ostomies and continent diversions.
A special way to remember UOAA can be through your estate plan, by means of a will, living trust or beneficiary designation on a life insurance policy, retirement account or savings account. Such gifts are wholly revocable while you are alive and may save significant taxes* for your estate.

Leaving a Legacy
Excerpt from an article written by Ed Pfueller, UOAA Communications and Outreach Manager; published in the Fall, 2018 edition of The Phoenix Magazine.
Jack and Ida Wenig left a legacy of laughter, kindness, and love with all they came into contact with. While they have passed on from our world, a generous gift from their estate to UOAA is leaving a lasting impact on the ostomy community they adored and found so much support from. Ida and Jack were active in the United Ostomy Association (UOA) and went to many of the national conferences.
Lifesaving Path
“They would tell me about the conferences how much it had helped them. They were positive and fun loving people” remembers their niece Arlene Wenig Seigel. “When Ida went through a harrowing, but lifesaving path toward colostomy surgery, they remained inseparable during the months-long recovery and kept their sense of humor throughout.”
“Jack and Ida were not wealthy people but they felt it was important to support those with medical needs.”
The Wenig’s gift to UOAA reflects their appreciation of the work being done to help so many discover a new lease on life. Ida was open about living with an ostomy and appreciative of the second chance it gave her.
