People living with an ostomy can have urgent needs to find a restroom at a moment’s notice. Lack of access to one during an unexpected pouch leak can result in an embarrassing and unnecessary accident. It might be a very occasional need but when it happens it can be extremely urgent and critical to the wellbeing of ostomates.
It is important for the ostomy community to have access to public bathrooms that provide accommodations for emptying/changing/disposing of an ostomy pouch in a safe and clean environment.
UOAA provides self-advocacy tools to help prepare for those times when you simply just can’t wait.
