Equity Statement: United Ostomy Associations of America (UOAA) knows that we must address inequality within our community to fully realize our mission of promoting the quality of life for all people living with an ostomy or continent diversion. We must identify and abolish discrimination against people for any reason including race, color, ethnicity, religion sexual orientation, gender expression, or disability. Inclusion is and will continue to be a fundamental part of UOAA’s advancement.
All people with an ostomy share a common bond of living with a misunderstood and historically stigmatized medical device. We must speak out as one voice when health disparities and cultural stigmas disproportionately affect some segments of our community. We recognize that health equity in ostomy care and support, cannot be fully achieved without equity in all aspects of society.
Non-Discrimination Policy: UOAA is committed to equal employment and volunteer opportunity without regard to age, ancestry, disability, national or ethnic origin, race, religious belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, political belief, or veteran status.
This policy applies to all areas of employment and volunteer participation, including recruitment, hiring, training and development, promotion, transfer, termination, layoff, compensation, benefits, social and recreational programs, all other conditions and privileges of employment in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
